2018 Road Racing Drivers Letter

Greetings, and Happy New (CenDiv racing) Year! It’s been a long winter, and wasn’t it great to be back at the track this past weekend?
As we get the 2018 season going in full steam, there are a few items I would like to mention.
Please review GCR section 6.1.1.B on yellow flags, as it has changed this year. The yellow zone is more clearly defined, and driver expectations through the zone are explained.
Please review GCR sections 6.5 and 6.6 on starts/restarts. I would like to emphasize that is the responsibility of all competitors to be fully packed up (including making sure those behind them on the grid have the opportunity to safely pack up) prior to the pace car pulling into the pits. Once the pace car pulls in, the field must remain in line and at the speed of the pace car at lights out, until the drop of the green. To be very clear: yes, the pole sitter/leader can get penalized for jumping or balking the start.
Finally, please review GCR section 6.11.1.E. Quite simply: if you are involved in significant body contact (which includes but is not limited to: contact resulting in 2 or 4 wheels off course, spins, loss of position, or repairs to suspension or bodywork), you must stop at black flag or report to impound with your car.
As a reminder, most of our events do not charge your credit card until at least at track registration opens +/- a day. Please register early for our events. It helps with planning of schedules, catering for the parties, avoids panic attacks for region personnel, etc. Registering early may also help encourage others to register – knowing that they’ll have good competition to race against.
For our drivers that have not participated in the last year (or more), we miss you and we want you back! If there is anything we can do to aid in the process, please let me know. No car, no problem – we can put you in touch with prep shops that have cars for rent.
For our drivers that focus on the US Majors Tour/Hoosier SuperTour/Runoffs: If you have not run a double regional in the last year, please consider adding one to your schedule. Our double regionals are the lifeblood of our club. They are where your future competitors are coming from. Some of them want to race against you there – not at a full bore Majors/SuperTour – as their first taste of top level competition. However, we need more entries to keep these events viable.
For example, this past weekend was the CenDiv Driver’s School/Double Divisional. We had less than 70 cars for each divisional. Needless to say, this was below our budgeted entry count. All 4 racing regions (BVR/CHI/LOL/MIL) share in the profits or the losses from this event equally. This means that all 4 racing regions are starting their year in the hole.
Thanks for being part of the CenDiv family!
