2018 Golden Ladle Competition – Sept 8

ATTENTION IN THE PADDOCK!

2016 Golden Ladle Champion
JoAnne Potter and her son, Bryan

Are you attending the Fall Sprints race weekend on September 8-9?

  • Do you own a crockpot?
  • Do you have a favorite soup recipe?
  • Do you have a competitive spirit?
  • Do you want to have a special place in LMI history?

If YES, then join us for our 2018 Golden Ladle Soup Competition, when the event is held at an SCCA event for the first time EVER! Traditionally, this event is held at Midwestern Council’s LOOOOONG Race, but LMI will be at the Runoffs that weekend. This is SCCA’s chance to show MC they are soup equals!

Don’t know where to start? Here’s a description of the process:

  1. Submit your entry as early as possible to the Soup Steward, Cindy Lindstrand. (in person, via email , or text 262-325-0641) First come, first choice! We’ve learned from experience if entries are unlimited, we end up with a lot of chilis and very little else. (Most entries are accepted as submitted.)
  2. Practice, practice, practice! Remember, this is a competition with an annual trophy and bragging rights.
  3. Hand over your crockpot of soup (lined with a crockpot liner) and any add-ins for cooking or additional items for serving (cheese, sour cream, etc.) to Cindy early Saturday morning, September 8. (If you do not have a crockpot, Cindy has several and can loan out a few but this must be prearranged prior to the event.) Please label your crockpot and ladle so they are returned to you at the conclusion of the competition.
  4. Enjoy your day racing, working, spectating, or whatever you do at the racetrack! Cindy will watch over the soups during the day and will assemble all the entries at the conclusion of the day’s racing.
  5. Bring yourself, your family, and a few friends to the party in the LMI paddock. Dinner is all the soup entries.
  6. Vote for your favorite soup via secret ballot!. This is a popularity contest, i.e., the soup with the most votes WINS!
  7. Party, party, party! This is Bruce’s last Central Division SCCA race as Area 5 Director.
  8. Still have questions? Just ask Cindy.
